No. 4 Brockport Stifles Alfred, 52-0

LFRED, N.Y. – The No. 4 College at Brockport football team humbled Alfred University on Saturday with another dominant road win, 52-0. The Golden Eagles remain undefeated in 2018 and move to 6-0 overall and 3-0 against Empire 8 opponents. This most recent win brings Brockport's regular season win-streak record to 18. Alfred University falls to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in conference matchups. Brockport looked to make a statement as they came out firing in the first quarter. Coming off just his third pass of the day, Joe Germinerio threw a 61-yard bomb to sophomore Tyree Brown who took it to the house for his third receiving touchdown of the season and his first of five total touchdowns on the day. The Green and Gold defense dictated the first quarter offense of Alfred, holding them to zero points and just 56-yards of total offense, the most the Saxons would manage in a quarter the entire game. In the second frame, the Golden Eagles completely overpowered the Saxons, adding an additional 28 points to the board. The quarter's first score came from a tough effort by Brockport's offense both on the ground and through the air, capped off by a one-yard rush by Brown. On the next possession, Brockport would score again with a rushing touchdown, this time by Jala Coad after an 11-yard run. With the Green and Gold's third possession came their fourth touchdown of the day and another wave of the ground attack. Brown ran nine-yards to give himself 21 points before the close of the first half. Wrapping up the first 30 minutes of play, Brockport took to the air for their fifth touchdown coming from a 41-yard bullet thrown by Germinerio to Daquan Hubbard for his second receiving touchdown of the season. Brockport rode their hot streak into the second half with brilliant performances on both sides of the ball. On the first possession, Germinerio completed five passes back-to-back and mixed in his own two-yard rush. The drive ended with a nine-yard completion to Brown for his fourth touchdown on the day, putting Brockport up 42-0. Zach Samborski set up the next seven points with a pair of runs on the ensuing drive, giving Brown the chance to pull in his fifth and final touchdown on a 41-yard pass from Germinerio. Brockport's defense showed some offensive flash of their own as defensive back Lawrence Jenkins picked off Alfred on the very next drive to wrap up the third quarter. In the fourth and final quarter the Green and Gold continued their outstanding effort beginning with a 32-yard field goal by Dustin Moyle, previously arranged by the third quarter interception. Alfred would posses the ball two final times to no avail as they ended the game shut out by the assertive Golden Eagle defense. Brockport put on a forceful display of football, willing their way to another incredible victory. With 484-yards of total offense, there was no hope for the Saxons to control any piece of the game. Brockport also proved their nationally-ranked run defense to be a factor, holding Alfred to just 12-rushing yards. Leading the offense, Germinerio completed 17 passes on 24 attempts for 284-yards and four touchdowns. Even still Brown became the spotlight of the team securing two touchdowns on the ground and three through the air for 163 total yards. The defensive prowess was a combined effort from all members, holding Alfred to a meager 84-yards of total offense and producing an interception. Matt Szymanski led with six tackles and a sack on the day. The Green and Gold will be back in action at home Oct. 20 versus Buffalo State at 4 p.m. in the I-90 Bowl.
