Nassau Defeats Dupage and Prepares for Army Prep


Toledo, OH) On Saturday, the Nassau Football team hit the road to compete against the College of Dupage from Glen Ellyn, Illinois. The two teams played on a neutral site in Toledo, Ohio. It was a sunny afternoon, perfect for fall football. At the end of the first quarter both teams were scoreless. It wasn't until the second quarter that NCC turned up the heat. Their first score was a 57 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Steven Genova to wide receiver Jaelin Hood. Tavon Joseph also had a 38 yard fumble recovery that he ran in for a touchdown. The Lions were up 21-13 at the half. Nassau didn't let up coming back in the second half. In the third quarter Hood was back with another 85 yard reception from Genova. NCC pushed in 2 touchdowns in the final quarter and held the Chaparral scoreless. The Lions were victorious 42-19. Outstanding players of the game were Steven Genova who completed 231 yards, 2 passing touchdowns, and 1 rushing touchdown. Jaelin Hood tallied 5 receptions for 155 yards and 2 touchdowns. Defensive Lineman Tavon Joseph also had an excellent day with 14 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Post game, Head Coach Jamel Ramsay commented, "We had a great overall effort by our team. We played a complete game by all 3 phases. In less than a week we play Army Prep, which the men are really excited for. It will be a great indicator of how we have progressed this season." Don't forget to catch Nassau as they make their way to West Point, NY on Friday to go up against Army Prep. The game is at 7 PM ET.
