ASA Men's Soccer Team Ends 2018 Regular Season With a 3 Game Winning Streak Before Regional Cham

Providence, RI - October 18th, 2018 – The ASA Avengers men's soccer team travels to Rhode Island to play their final game of the 2018 regular season against Community College of Rhode Island.

The Avengers quickly gave up a goal within the opening minutes of the game. "We started off with some of the guys who don't get a lot of playing time the first 20 minutes of the first half," said men's soccer head coach Brett Polow. "I think they were just nervous to play. We had some bad communications." Twenty minutes into the game, the Avengers bought in all their starters.

One player that the Avengers had been waiting to see is Hwang Eun-Seouk, member of the U18 Columbus Crew Development Academy in Ohio, who played his first game of the season today. "I think he's everything we thought he was," said Polow. "When he's in the game, it's very difficult for teams to defend against us. He gets everyone involved in the attack and he has an innate ability to create opportunities for everyone in the field."

During the time the starters were in the game, the Avengers had control of the ball for probably 90% of the game. The Avengers took about 25-27 shots, but their goalkeeper made 7 great saves. The first two goals were from Darrian Chambers assisted by Daniel and Hwang respectively. The third goal was a penalty kick from Hwang and the final goal for the Avengers was from Daniel assisted by DeAndre Gordon. The Avengers ended the game with a 4-2 win.

The ASA Avengers men's soccer team concludes the 2018 NJCAA regular season with a 3 game winning streak. The next game will be the 2018 Regional Championship against Monroe Mustang at Belson Stadium in St. John's University at October 27th 2018 7:30 pm.
