Men’s Basketball Names Captains

Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham head men's basketball coach Jeff Neubauer came up with a different way to announce his captains last week. Entering the Rose Hill Gym garbed like a king, Neubauer "knighted" his newest captains: senior David Pekarek and redshirt junior Antwon Portley. Pekarek appeared in 27 games for the Rams in 2017-2018, starting five. He averaged 5.2 ppg and 3.1 rpg and recorded first career double-double with 16 points and a career-high ten rebounds at St. Bonaventure. Portley sat out last year after transferring to Fordham from Saint Peter's University where he averaged 7.8 ppg, 2.2 rpg and 2.1 apg as a sophomore in 2016-2017 and 14.0 ppg, 3.2 rpg and 1.9 apg as a freshman in 2015-2016.
