Brockport Football - Game Eight Preview

UTICA, N.Y. – The No. 3 College at Brockport football team nears the end of the regular season, set to take on the Utica College Pioneers in week eight. DATE – TIME: October 27th, 2018 – 2 p.m. LOCATION: Charles A. Gaetano Stadium–Utica, N.Y. LINKS: Video | Stats | Game Notes Brockport is coming off another standout week after nearly shutting out Buffalo State 65-7 and taking home the I-90 Bowl trophy once again. After their strong performance on both sides of the ball, the Golden Eagles picked up a D3football.com Team of the Week selection and topped the school leaderboard in passing yards. On the defensive end, Austin Dean was named Defensive Tackle of the Week after recording three tackles for a loss of 21-yards while racking up 2.5 sacks for a loss of 19-yards. Dean's strong performance on defense allowed for QB Joe Germinerio to get to business, completing 14-of-20 passes for 233-yards, marking him as one of Brockport's best. Germinerio's 233 yards helped him soar to the top of the leaderboard, securing the All-Time Passing Record in only three years with 6,701-career passing yards. The Golden Eagles also saw dominating efforts from DaQuan Hubbard and Zach Samborski. Hubbard perfected the long ball Saturday, finishing the day with two receptions for 120 yards and a touchdown. Samborski continued the effort on the ground, rushing for 111-yards and three scores. The two's totals would add to the 608-total yards of offense recorded by the Golden Eagles. The last time these two teams met, the Golden Eagles edged out their fourth win of the season, 28-14. However, the Pioneers gave the Green and Gold a run for their money, forcing them to play from behind for the first time in the 2017 season. The tag team of Germinerio and Hubbard marked their territory in this matchup as well, Germinerio completing 21-of-31 passes for 244-yards while adding another 71 on the ground. Hubbard logged four receptions for 94-yards and a touchdown, the longest being a 74-yard bullet from Germinerio to help put the Golden Eagles up before the half. Matt Szymanski was the bread winner for the defense, recording 11 tackles on the day. With another win on the brain and an undefeated season in sight, the Golden Eagles are eager to get to business. The team brings the effort back home next weekend for the final home stand of the regular season, where they will honor the efforts of their 24 seniors. They are set to take on SUNY Cortland at 2 p.m. Be sure to stay up to date on all of your Golden Eagle scores and awards by following @BportAthletics on Twitter and by liking the "Brockport Golden Eagles" Facebook page.
