Football Hosts Lafayette on Saturday

Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham University Rams continue their 2018 season, Fordham's 118th varsity season, by hosting the Lafayette College Leopards in a Patriot League game on Jack Coffey Field on Saturday, October 27, at 1:00 p.m. The game will be streamed live on Stadium and on Facebook watch with Matt Martucci (p-b-p), Dave Owens (color), and Morgan Uber (sidelines) announcing and broadcast live on WFUVsports.org with Raffaele Elia (p-b-p), Emmanuel Berbari (color) and Vinny DeBellis (sidelines) handling the announcing chores. Fordham enters the game with a 1-6 record, 1-1 in the Patriot League, coming off a 42-41 loss to Bryant on Jack Coffey Field last week, while Lafayette enters the game with a 2-5 overall mark, 1-2 in the Patriot League, and is coming off a 29-27 league win at Bucknell last Saturday. This will be the 37th meeting between Fordham and Lafayette on the gridiron. The Leopards lead the all-time series, which started in 1903, 23-12-1, and took last year's game, 14-10 in Fisher Stadium as Sean O'Malley completed 29 of 41 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns. A few notes on the game: • Senior wide receiver Austin Longi, a Preseason All-Patriot League selection, has 42 catches for 556 yards and three scores to bring his career totals to 163 receptions for 2,134 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Austin Longi

• He caught ten passes for 137 yards and two scores against Bryant last week to earn Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year honors. • Longi leads the Patriot League in receptions/game (6.0) and receiving yards/game (79.4). • Longi ranks sixth on the Fordham career reception list, seventh on the career receiving yards list and tied for sixth on the all-time touchdown reception list. • Senior wide out Corey Caddle has 23 catches for 236 yards and one touchdown so far this season to bring his career numbers to 124 receptions for 1,462 career yards with 15 scores. • Caddle currently is tied for eighth on the Fordham career receiving touchdowns list and is 13th on the career receiving yards list. • Fordham freshman quarterback Tim DeMorat was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the second straight week, and third time this season, following the Bryant game after completing 19 of 28 passes for 228 yards and four touchdowns. • The four passing scores is a Fordham freshman single game record. • Sophomore kicker Andrew Mevis was named the Patriot League Special teams Player of the week last week, making good on both of his field goal attempts (32 and 37 yards), and all five of his PATs against Bryant. • Mevis punted five times for 235 yards (47.0 average), placing three of his five punts inside the Bryant 20, including a career-long 70-yard punt that was downed on the one and kicked off eight times for 520 yards (65.0 average), placing all eight kicks in the end zone. • The Fordham receiving corps is not a selfish bunch as 14 different receivers have caught at least one pass so far in 2018. • Fordham has won four of the past six meetings with the Leopards. • The Fordham captains for 2018 are senior defensive back Dylan Mabin, and senior tight end Isaiah Searight. • No New York area football team has won more games since 2012 than Fordham, who has amassed 51 victories over that stretch. The closest collegiate competitors are Stony Brook (46), Sacred Heart (40), and Rutgers (34), while the NFL's Giants and Jets have 43 and 41 wins, respectively, each.
