Short Story: Junior Akuabata Okenwa earned her second double-double (16 kills, 15 digs) in as many games as the UAlbany volleyball team took down UMBC, 3-1, on Friday night in America East action.

“It was exciting to play after having last weekend off due to a bye week. We have been on the road for all of October and have played well despite the traveling every weekend. The team’s performance got stronger as the match went on and look to carry that momentum into Sunday’s match.”

UAlbany’s Akuabata Okenwa and UMBC’s Paige Krenik each posted a game-best 16 kills.
UMBC’s Kristin Watson led all players with 26 digs while teammate Krytsia Negron earned 48 assists.
The Great Danes finish the match hitting .266 while limiting the Retrievers to a .169 clip.
Okenwa tallied three services aces in the tilt.
