Bowling Competes at Inaugural Caldwell Cougar Classic


Rockaway, N.J. - The Adelphi University women's bowling team returned to the lanes for the third straight weekend beginning on Friday, competing in the Caldwell Cougar Classic at Rockaway Lanes. Skylar McGarrity was Adelphi's top finisher for the third tournament running this fall, coming in 11th overall with a 182.33 average. Junior Olivia Lopera joined her in the Top 20 with a 176.5 to finish 19th. The Brown and Gold kicked off the three-day tournament with a 4-1 record on Friday, eventually finishing with a 6-7 mark across three days of competition to finish in eighth place. Adelphi scored wins over Sacred Heart, Delaware State and Caldwell on Friday, and bounced back with a closing win against Bloomfield after dropping a decision to the University of Maryland - Eastern Shore. In traditional play on Saturday, the Brown and Gold defeated Saint Francis Brooklyn and Kutztown, with Lopera's 241 leading the way against the Terriers, and McGarrity's 246 pacing all bowlers against the Bears. In addition, McKenna Collier chipped in a 207 against Saint Francis, helping Adelphi to a 940-842 decision. Adelphi resumes competition over the weekend of Nov. 9-11 as it heads to the Warhawk Classic hosted by the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater.
