Monroe Football Moves up to No. 15 in NJCAA Rankings


CHARLOTTE, N.C., October 30, 2018 – Following its 35-28 win over ASA College on Sunday, the Monroe College football team moved up one spot to No. 15 in the Week 9 NJCAA Football Rankings, as announced by the NJCAA on Tuesday. The Mustangs sit at 5-1 after their seven-point victory over the Avengers. Jalen Brown led the way for the Mustangs in the win, passing for 118-yards and a touchdown, while adding 44-yards and two TDs on the ground. Brown, along with defensive back Emmanuel Appiah-Tahkyi and wide receiver Imhotep Cromer, earned a clean sweep of the Northeast Football Conference's Player of the Week awards after the win over ASA. Appiah-Tahkyi totaled six tackles and two pass breakups against ASA, while Cromer returned a kickoff 100 yards for a score that tied the game early in the third quarter. The Mustangs next head to Buffalo, N.Y. for their final road game of the 2018 season, taking on Erie Community College on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 12 p.m.
