Fairfield Collects Second-Straight MAAC Men's Soccer Regular Season Title

EDISON, NJ - Fairfield University won the 2018 MAAC Men's Soccer Regular Season Title with its win over Manhattan College, 1-0, in the regular season finale on Wednesday. Fairfield finished the MAAC season without a loss at 8-0-2. It is the Stags second-straight Regular Season Title. The regular season title gives the Stags the top seed in the upcoming MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship. Fairfield will host a semifinal matchup on Thursday, November 8 and the championship game on Sunday, November 11 if they advance. Joseph Meyer scored the lone Fairfield goal against Manhattan in the 43rd minute. It was Meyer's third of the season and second game-winner. Goalkeeper, Gordon Botterill moved to 11-4 on the year after recording his fourth shutout. The MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship gets underway on Sunday, November 4 with a pair of first-round games, which will be hosted by the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds. The semifinals will be on Thursday, November 8 with Fairfield hosting one and the No. 2 seed hosting the other. Fairfield will face the lowest remaining seed after the first round while the No. 2 seed will entertain the highest remaining seed after round one. The highest remaining seed after the semifinals will host the championship game on Sunday, November 11.
