JUWON FARRI ADDED TO JERRY RICE AWARD WATCH LIST
WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University running back Juwon Farri (Germantown, MD/Northwest) has been named to the Jerry Rice Award Watch List, announced by the award's governing body on Thursday. The Jerry Rice Award, named after the Hall of Fame Receiver, is presented by STATS to the nation's top FCS freshman. Since the award's inception in 2011, Monmouth has had five players named to the Watch List, including Farri. The freshman currently leads the Big South in rushing with 758 yards, despite starting just three of Monmouth's eight games this season. Farri has put together four 100+ yard rushing performances while reaching the end zone six times. He is averaging an impressive 8.15 yards per carry, which ranks second in the nation. Earlier this season Farri tied the Monmouth record for all-purpose yards with 263 while he's averaging 101.6 all-purpose yards per contest in 2018. Monmouth has had two previous running backs named to the Jerry Rice Award Watch List, most recently sophomore Pete Guerriero who finished eighth in the voting in 2018. A national panel of over 150 sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries will vote on the award following the regular season.
