Brockport Football - Game Nine Preview

BROCKPORT, N.Y- The No. 3 College at Brockport football team has fully embraced their winning ways, as they remain undefeated in the Empire 8 and now look to take on conference rival SUNY Cortland this Saturday. DATE – TIME: November 3, 2018 – 2 p.m. LOCATION: Bob Boozer Field –Brockport, N.Y. LINKS: Video | Stats | Game Notes The Golden Eagles defeated Utica College 22-6 this past weekend and moved to 8-0 overall. Their rushing-defense remains nationally ranked at No. 1 with a negative 19.5-yards per game average. Senior Rashad Baker now holds the program record for most passes defended in a season with 18 and is tied for the career most passes defended at 36. Brockport posted a total of 537-yards on Saturday but it was the defense that dictated the pace for most of the day. Utica was held to a measly negative 62-yards on the ground and gave up a safety on the first drive of the game to the hungry Green and Gold defense. The rain came down hard, making tough conditions for big plays to be made, but Brockport found the end zone three times to put away the Pioneers. A blocked extra point attempt on Utica's lone touchdown would end up a perfect example of their futile effort versus the dominant Golden Eagles. SUNY Cortland, who currently holds a 7-1 record, has the potential to be the toughest matchup for the Green and Gold so far this season. The last time the two teams met, Brockport took down the Red Dragons 52-38 in a comeback win. Joe Germinerio led Brockport with three rushing-touchdowns and another three through the air. The Brockport defense finished with five sacks and an interception, allowing Germinerio and the fiery offense to complete the comeback. Tyree Brown was the right-hand man to his quarterback, finishing with 170-receiving yards and a touchdown of his own. A win this weekend would clinch a playoff spot for Brockport and the Empire 8 title, and keep the ball rolling into their last regular-season game of the year.
