Brockport Football - Game 10 Preview


MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – After repeating history last Saturday, collecting their second Empire 8 Championship, The No. 3 College at Brockport football team heads to Morrisville State this weekend to hopefully cap off another undefeated season. With their 21-16 win over SUNY Cortland, the Golden Eagles secured a spot in the 2018 NCAA Division III National Playoffs following this weekend's matchup. LINKS: Video | Stats | Game Notes The Golden Eagles proved last weekend that they are able to conquer any adversity, coming back from their first deficit of the season to secure the win over the Red Dragons. Defense was the name of the game for the Green and Gold, with Rashad Baker, Austin Dean, Alex West, and Lawrence Jenkins leading the pack. Baker single-handedly captured Brockport history with his standout performance, adding three tackles, two pass breakups, and four interceptions on the day, one of which brought home the win for the Golden Eagles in the final seconds of the game. In his final home game as a Golden Eagle, the Greenburgh, N.Y. native set the program record for pass deflections, collecting 42 over the course of his career. Dean, West, and Jenkins were the brick wall that Brockport needed in order to hold off the Red Dragons offense, collectively accounting for 32 tackles, seven of which were for a loss. Joe Germinerio and Joseph Ortiz were the key dynamic duo on the offensive end, Germinerio leading with 307-yards through the air and 46-yards on the ground, while finding Ortiz for 18 catches for 170-yards. The last time these two teams met, the Golden Eagles made quick work of the Mustangs, trampling them 48-7. Brockport got to work right off the bat, scoring on their first eight offensive drives, collecting six touchdowns and two field goals between the first and third quarters. Germinerio had a strong game in the air, completing 19-of-23 for 288 yards and three touchdowns. Germinerio spread the wealth offensively, as Tyree Brown, DaQuan Hubbard, and Ortiz would account for 13 receptions for 202-yards.
