Iona Volleyball Will Play No. 12 Pittsburgh In NCAA Championship
NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Earning the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference automatic bid with its second ever league title, the Iona College volleyball program has been tabbed to play the No. 12 Pittsburgh Panthers in the upcoming 2018 NCAA Volleyball Championship. Pittsburgh earned its berth into the NCAA tournament winning the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Panthers finished the season with a 29-1, 17-1 ACC record. Their lone loss come on Sunday, Oct. 28 against the Duke Blue Devils. In the most recent AVCA Coaches Poll, Pittsburgh was voted No. 10. It has the seventh-best RPI in the nation as of Sunday, Nov. 18. The winner is scheduled to serve up against the winner of the Navy and Michigan match. The Wolverines were ranked No. 18 in the latest AVCA Coaches' Poll and they have the No. 18 ranked RPI. This season is Iona's first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2004. That year the Maroon & Gold matched up against No. 1 Nebraska. The Gaels will play the Panthers on Friday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m.
