Men's basketball takes down Post LIU Post
WATERBURY, Connecticut — The American International College men's basketball team defeated Post in a 71-70 nail bitter on Sunday, December 16 at Drubner Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Eagles opened the game on a 5-0 run. Sophomore guard Xion Golding scored the first bucket for the Yellow Jackets inside the first three minutes of action. Post responded with a three-pointer to go up by six, but AIC converted on a couple of layups to trail the Eagles by just two points, 10-8.
With 12:05 remaining in the first half, AIC captured its first lead of the game. Freshman guard Isaiah Salters drilled a three to lead 17-15. The lead would go as high as five points before Post tied the game at 26 with 7:05 remaining in the half. At the break, Post had a two-point advantage, 39-37.
On the first possession of the second half, Golding converted the second chance basket, tying the game at 39. With 12:35 remaining in the final half, junior guard Logan Santiago drove in for two, giving AIC an eight-point lead, 54-46.
With 6:41 remaining, Post knocked down a three to tie the game; on the following Eagles possession, they sank another three-pointer for a 65-62 lead.
At the 3:04 mark, sophomore guard Adonis Williams recorded a clutch steal, resulting in free throws for sophomore guard Jordan Vidal with just inside three minutes remaining. Vidal converted both free throws, giving AIC a 70-69 lead. However, Post hit a free throw to tie the game.
The Yellow Jackets had a chance for the win with 18 seconds to play. After a late miss with two seconds remaining, senior forward Andrew Anderson grabbed a massive offensive rebound and drew a foul. He hit one of the free throws for the decisive point and the 71-70 win.
