Pace Men's Basketball Remains at No. 5 in D2SIDA East Poll
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – After picking up a win in their first game of 2019, the Pace University men's basketball team maintained their No. 5 ranking in the latest D2SIDA Men's East Region Media Poll released on Monday. The Setters have now been ranked in four straight D2SIDA polls, dating back to Dec. 3. The Setters improved to 10-4 on the season following a 67-61 win over Mercy on Saturday afternoon. Picking up the home-and-home sweep of the Mavericks, the Blue and Gold had three scorers reach double figures in their first outing of the New Year. Peyton Wejnert (Point Pleasant, NJ/Southern Regional) led the Pace offense with 17 points, while Greg Poleon (Brooklyn, NY/Abraham Lincoln / Coffeyville CC) and Brandon Jacobs (Cambria Heights, NY/Long Island Lutheran) added 16 and 11 points respectively. Wejnert and Jacobs are both now averaging more than 16 points per game. Pace continues to find success through strong defensive play, ranking third in the Northeast-10 Conference with 66.0 points allowed per game. The Setters have held their opponents to 61 points or fewer eight times this season, winning each of those contests. The Blue and Gold look for a 2-0 start to 2019 when they return to the court on Wednesday night. Pace plays host to NE10 foe, Southern New Hampshire, at 7:30 p.m. inside the Goldstein Fitness Center.
