Baruch's Harris Voted Met Basketball Division II-III Co-Player of the Week

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (Jan. 9, 2019) - For the second time this season, Baruch College men's basketball senior forward Andre Harris was named the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Division II-III Co-Player of the Week, it was announced Tuesday. Harris, who was also chosen as the CUNYAC Player of the Week, averaged a double-double of 20.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game in conference wins against John Jay and Medgar Evers. The senior posted a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds in a 68-55 road victory over John Jay College. He followed that up with a near double-double of 20 points and nine rebounds in an 81-59 home win against Medgar Evers. That home win helped the Bearcats extend their home winning streak to nine games, dating back to last season. "We're happy to see Andre recognized again for the strong start to his senior season," said Head Coach John Alesi. "He is a very hard worker and has improved greatly from last season and we look forward to him continuing to help us improve every day." Harris is currently ranked fourth in the league in blocks per game (1.3) and fifth in rebounding (8.6). He shared the honor this week with Enike Anyia of Sarah Lawrence College. Harris was previously named the Met Co-Player of the Week on Dec. 18.
