Football's Jah'Sheem Martin Selected Don Hansen Football Gazette All-Super Region 1

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – After a dominant season on the defensive line, Jah'Sheem Martin (Freeport, NY/Freeport) of the Pace University football team has been selected to the Don Hansen Football Gazette Super Region 1 Third Team. The graduate student defensive lineman recorded 53 tackles during a 2018 season that saw Pace go 7-3. Starting all 10 games for the Setters, Martin led the team with 9.5 tackles for loss, five of which were sacks. He also had a pair of pass break-ups, an interception, and a blocked kick during the season. Martin was selected to the Northeast-10 All-Conference First Team at the end of the season as a result of his shutdown effort in 2018. Martin saved his best for last in 2018, putting together nine tackles (season-high), a sack and an interception in Pace's season-ending win over Saint Anselm. He also racked up a season-best 3.5 tackles-for-loss against Assumption on Sept. 21. The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen started and published Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988. Don Hansen's FB Gazette began selecting Division II All-Region squads in 2003. Super Region 1 is comprised of universities from the PSAC, MEC, NE10, and GMAC conferences. The 2018 team features 149 players from 39 different universities.
