Monroe Women’s Indoor Track and Field Ranked No. 7 in First USTFCCCA Rating Index of 2019


NEW ORLEANS, La., January 24, 2019 – After getting off to a strong start through the team's first three meets, the Monroe College women's indoor track and field team earned the No. 7 ranking in Week 1 of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2019 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Rating Index, as announced by the USTFCCCA on Wednesday. Monroe student-athletes have accounted for eight individual performances that rank in the Top 10 of NJCAA Div. I as of this past weekend. Faten Laribi's time of 2:54.76 in the 1,000-meter run is No. 1 in the nation, while Joanna Archer's 2:56.87 ranks No. 2, and Malethabo Seema's 3:06.94 is fourth in the country. In the 400-meter dash, the Mustangs appear five times in the Top 25, and twice in the Top 5. Avon Samuels is second in the NJCAA with a time of 56.44 in the event, while Archer is fifth at 57.46. Malethabo Seema is No. 11 at 59.33, Laribi is 13th at 59.58, and Elisanett Marine-Alvarez comes in at 25th with a time of 1:02.31. Samuels comes in at No. 2 again with a time of 1:34.42 in the 600-meter run. Malethabo Seema is eighth in the country in the event at 1:40.11.
