Morrison earns spot in All-Star game


illiam Smith College senior Mia Morrison earned a spot in the inaugural Beyond Sports Women's Collegiate All-Star game presented by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. Morrison was one of the student-athletes who received enough fan votes to garner a spot on the team. She came in second place in the fan voting. The all-star game will be played in Salem, Va., on Saturday, March 16 in the Cregger Center on the campus of Roanoke College prior to the NCAA Division III women's basketball national championship game. Morrison is a two-time all-region selection, earning first team honors this year. She was named the D3hoops.com All-East Region Player of the Year and the Liberty League Player of the Year. Morrison collected all-league honors all four years of her Heron basketball career. In her senior season she led William Smith and ranked second in the Liberty League in points (18.8 ppg) and rebounds (9.7 rpg). She grabbed a total of 251 rebounds which puts her fifth on the single season Heron list. Morrison notched 489 points this winter, which ties her for sixth on the single season list. In 89 career games, Morrison averaged 16.2 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1.5 spg and 0.9 blocked shots per game. She shot .433 from the field and .675 from the free through line in her career. Morrison left her mark on the Heron career record books, finishing second in points (1,584), second in blocked shots (89), and fifth in rebounds (845).
