#1 Men's Lax Wins 10 Straight, Tops Saint Mike's 14-2

Colchester, VT - Coming off a midweek 13-9 win over Pace, the top-ranked Adelphi University rolled to their tenth consecutive victory this season, using 10 goals over the last two quarters en route to a 14-2 ousting of Saint Michael's College Saturday afternoon. Both opening quarters ended with identical scores of 2-1 in favor of the Panthers (10-0, 6-0 NE10) who held the home team scoreless over the next 30 minutes to secure the win. The Purple Knights (3-5, 0-4 NE10) saw lone tallies from Conor Mcgirk and Ralph Grillone III, but were unable to gain any momentum following the halftime break. Michael Osmundsen led the Panthers with five goals, a mark he had not reached since April 4 of last season. John Arcidiacono also scored more than once, ending with three and collecting two caused turnovers in the win. Defensively the team was anchored by Justin Napolitano, who helped keep Saint Mike's scoreless with five caused turnovers, two of which occurred in the third frame alone. The home team was the first to get on the board, finding a way past Brendan McDougal but Osmundsen netted his first and second, sparking a three-goal run which carried over into the second period. The Purple Knights kept it close, scoring once more before halftime to only trail by two, however it was not enough. Three different players for Adelphi scored in the third quarter, including Brian Smith's first of the season. With a 9-2 advantage heading into the final 15 minutes of action, the Panthers pressed on the gas to score five more, starting off with another from Osmundsen. Nicolas Racalbuto, Ian Kirby, Angelo Caiazzo and Jack Roberts each contributed a goal in the last quarter to help the visitors post a margin of 12 for the fourth time this season. The men's team returns to action on Wednesday, April 3 when they travel across town to take on New York Institute of Technology. The game is currently scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.About Adelphi Athletics A regionally and nationally competitive NCAA Division II institution located in Garden City, N.Y., Adelphi University has been a proud member of the Northeast-10 Conference since 2009.
