WLAX: Parrella Leads Hofstra with Huge Second Half

lon, NC - Junior Alyssa Parrella had six goals and one assist and the Hofstra Women's Lacrosse team outscored Elon 8-1 in the second half en route to a big 10-6 road win over the Phoenix on Sunday afternoon at Rudd Field. Parrella scored five of her goals in the second stanza as Hofstra overcame a 5-2 halftime deficit. In the process, she established a new school record for goals in a season with 63. The mark of 57 was set by Kathleen Mikowski in 2003 and tied by Parrella last year. Hofstra scored the final seven goals of the contest to earn the huge road victory. Freshman Jess Smith was incredible in net for the Pride as she made 12 saves, including six in each half, to fall one save shy of her season-high. Parrella also now has 76 points this season to move into a tie for third all-time on the single season chart. Remarkably, she has three of the top four single season scoring totals in program history. The win is Hofstra's third straight and improves the Pride's record to 9-4 overall and 2-0 in Colonial Athletic Association play. The nine wins are the most since the 2015 team won 11 games and the 2-0 start in conference action is the Pride's first since
