No. 19 Women's Lacrosse Takes Down No. 17 Assumption, 13-11


WORCESTER, Mass. – Battling back from an early 5-1 deficit, the 19th-ranked Pace University women's lacrosse team earned a 13-11 win at No. 17 Assumption on Tuesday night. The Setters have now won four games in row, improving to 6-4 inside the NE10 this season.

Freshman Kayla Conway (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh), who was named the NE10's Rookie of the Week earlier today, led Pace with five goals on Tuesday night. She has now racked up 11 tallies and an assist over her last three games.

Conway notched a pair of goals in the first half, while also providing the Setters with their final lead of the game at 7-6 early in the first half.

Sophomore Emma Rafferty (Bay Shore, NY/Islip) also starred offensively, finishing the game with her third hat trick of the season.

Five other Setters found the back of the net in Amanda Dickerson (Riverhead, NY/Riverhead), Mary Kate Lonegan (Brewster, NY/Brewster), Taylor Rossi (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh), Carlyn Mucci (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas), and Juliana Marcolini (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley). Junior Johnna Leone (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale) chipped in a pair of assists.

Trailing by four goals a little over 10 minutes into the contest, Pace put together a 4-0 run to even the game at 5-5 at the 10:07 mark.

The Setters would then go on another 4-0 spurt to seize a 9-6 lead with a little over 25 minutes remaining in the game. Assumption cut the lead to just one on a pair of occasions down the stretch, but Pace responded each time.

Back-to-back goals from Rafferty and Rossi extended the edge back to 12-9 with 5:57 left while Conway's final goal put the visitors up 13-10 at the 3:12 mark.

Up Next The red-hot Setters will visit Southern New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon in a 2 p.m. start.
