No. 10 Monroe Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Impresses at 125th Running of Penn Relays


PHILADELPHIA, Pa., April 28, 2019 – The No. 10-ranked Monroe College men's outdoor track and field team had a stellar weekend at the 125th running of the Penn Relays. The Mustang men competed in seven events throughout the weekend, highlighted by a pair of medal-winning performances by the field athletes. Lloyd McCurdy took home the gold in the men's triple jump championship on Saturday. His jump of 15.90 meters set a new season-high while earning him first place against top NCAA Div. I competition. Chukwusom Enekwechi had an incredible performance in the men's shot put championship. His throw of 17.92 meters set a new program record in the event, a new personal best for the sophomore and earned him second place in Friday's competition out of 51 competitors. The Mustangs' 4x200 relay team of Bervensky Pierre, Kurt Modeste, Giano Roberts and Phillip Marcelle competed in the college men's 4x200 Championship of America Invitational event on Friday. Monroe came in sixth place out of 32 teams in the event with a time of 1:25.10. The 4x800 relay team of Phelani Maduwa, Ka'Jon Parris, Thapelo Makofane and Keron Charles took 11th place on Saturday with a season-best time of 7:48.65.
