ASA Brooklyn Avengers Announces Rudy Thompson as Head Track and Field Coach


Brooklyn, NY -- The ASA College Brooklyn Avengers announces Rudolph Thompson as the new men's and women's track and field head coach as the Avengers look to restart the program for the 2019-20 season.

"I am excited to take on the challenge to build and develop this program into a winning program and possibly have as many track athletes as possible experience the success the football program has had in placing their athletes successfully in various collegiate levels in the past several years," said Rudolph Thompson.

Prior to his arrival on the Brooklyn campus, Thompson served two seasons at Saint Peter's University as an assistant coach for their Men's and Women's cross-country and track and field program. He gained his first coaching experience at his alma mater North Carolina – A & T as a student volunteer under the mentorship of Head Coach Roy Thompson (jumps coach specialist) which lead to several experiences at various levels such as track clubs and high schools in Greensboro, North Carolina. Upon returning to his native Brooklyn residence his career developed as an educator. Thompson's experiences within the Public-School Athletic league (DOE) over twenty years of developing various athletes in most aspects of cross- country and track and field. Coach Thompson brings to the Brooklyn Avengers a variety of officiating and coaching experience. He is a member of USATF and USTFCCA and has obtained certifications: USATF level 3 and IAAF level 5 in Endurance, USATF Level 2 in Sprints, Hurdles, and Relays, USTFCCCA - Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Outside of coaching track, he also acts as an official for collegiate football at the Division III and Junior College level.
