Nassau Men’s Golf Wins Region XV, Punching Ticket to National Tournament


(Haverstraw, NY) Over the weekend, Men's Golf competed in the NJCAA Region VX Championship at the Philip J. Totally Golf Course. The Lions' depth and balance, as proved countless times this season, to be a decisive factor of their fate. With all 6 players contributing, Nassau ran away with the overall win to capture the team championship title. Coming in as runner-up was Westchester Community College. This victory has earned the team a trip to the NJCAA National Championships in Chautauqua, New York starting June 4th. Looking at the top players of the round, Austin Lunstedt of Ulster Community Villege shot 155 to clench the individual medal. Justin Ming of Westchester, earned runner-up honors with a score of 157, while Nassau's own, Conor Maloney shot 158 to finish third. In his first year of coaching, Nassau Head Coach David Mattana was named Region XV Coach of the Year.
