ASA Brooklyn Avengers Announces Coach Prophete as Men's Soccer Head Coach


ASA Brooklyn Avengers announces Alphonse Prophete as the men's soccer head coach as the team prepares for the start of the 2019 fall soccer season. Prophete has spent the last quarter century involved in college coaching as well as teaching the next generation of soccer stars in the sport he so truly loves.

His overall record of success speaks volumes for the man most closely identified with Essex County College, an urban two-year school with no true home field. Prophete has compiled an overall record of 276-130-35, with a 255-103-22 (ranks 13th overall among active and inactive coaches) mark in schools under the NJCAA -National Junior College Athletic Association and NCAA – National College Athletic Association's names.

As the head coach, Prophete led both Passaic County College and Essex County College to National Runner-up NJCAA National Championships. A five time Regional Coach of the Year as selected by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, Prophete spent 21 year as head men's soccer coach at ECC before stepping down prior to the 2008 season. During that time, he was also junior college coach of the year four times as selected by the New Jersey Soccer Coaches Association. He previously coached at Essex in the mid 1980s for four years before taking on stints at Passaic County Community College, the former Upsala College and Union County College, all in New Jersey. He was also part of the technical coaching staff for the Federation Nationale de Football d'Haiti, World Cup 94, where he has worked in the capacity of Assistant Coach for the Sr. National Team and was in charge of recruiting Haitian players living abroad.
