Cornell's Hurd steps in as offensive coordinator for football
Hamilton College's Mary Jayne Comey and Mac Bristol '43 Head Football Coach Dave Murray has selected Shane Hurd as the program's next offensive coordinator. He will coach the quarterbacks for the Continentals. Hurd had been the assistant head coach in charge of quarterbacks and the passing game coordinator at Cornell University since 2013. His quarterbacks were named to the all-Ivy League team in 2013 and 2016, and he has coached three of the top eight players in career passing yards in Cornell history. "Shane Hurd is going to be a great addition to the Continental football family," Murray said. "He knows what it takes to successfully coach and recruit at a nationally ranked academic institution. Shane is an exceptional leader who has a keen offensive mind and pays great attention to detail. He is known in the football coaching ranks as someone who develops character and academic success in his players." Prior to joining the staff at Cornell, Hurd was the head coach at Union-Endicott High School from 2005 to 2012. His teams won five New York Section IV titles and one regional crown and boasted a .683 winning percentage in eight years. More than 30 of his players went on to play college football and two made it to the NFL. Hurd was Union-Endicott's offensive coordinator for two years and was an assistant coach in charge of wide receivers and defensive backs from 2000 to 2002.
