England Calls Up Niamh Cashin for U19 UEFA
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University women's soccer rising sophomore back Niamh Cashin (Nottingham, England/All Saints Academy) has been selected to England's squad for the upcoming U19 UEFA Finals Tournament, July 16-29 in Scotland. The top three teams will advance to the U20 Women's World Cup next year. Cashin previously played for the Lionesses in qualifying for the UEFA Finals in April. Cashin was also called up to play for the U19 squad at the first qualifying round of the UEFA U19 Championship in Croatia in the fall, as well as the prestigious La Manga Tournament, Feb. 28 – Mar. 4 in Alicante, Spain. Cashin turned in a successful freshman campaign for the Broncs in 2018, being named to MAAC All-Rookie Team. She saw action in eight games, including six starts, finishing the year with a goal and an assist. She scored the game-winning goal in her first start of the year, handing MAAC Champion Monmouth a rare defeat on Sept. 16. For her effort, she was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week. She later assisted on Ashlyn Johnson's game-winning goal against Quinnipiac on Oct. 17.
