Rucli Signs First Professional Contract


Hempstead, NY - Former Hofstra Volleyball student-athlete Michela Rucli, who concluded her outstanding career in 2018, recently inked her first professional contract with Libertas Martignacco. Libertas Martignacco plays in the Italian Women's 2 Volleyball League, which is the second highest professional women's volleyball league in Italy. "We are so proud of Michela for taking the next step in her career," commented Hofstra Head Coach Emily Mansur. "Michela was an incredible member of our program and helped lead the team to unprecedented heights. We are thrilled for her and proud to see another alumnae in the professional ranks." A three-time All-Colonial Athletic Association honoree during her stellar career that concluded this past fall, Rucli posted career totals of 1,023 kills, 536 blocks, 472 block assists, 100 digs, 24 service aces and 13 assists. She ranks first all-time in program history in block assists, third in total blocks and 16th in kills. Hofstra went 25-8 in 2018, winning both the regular season and postseason CAA titles. Rucli posted 279 kills and 127 blocks during the year to rank third on the squad in kills and first in blocks.
