Gotterup Wins 99th NJSGA Open Championship

BEDMINSTER, N.J. – Christopher Gotterup won the 99th New Jersey State Golf Association (NJSGA) Open Championship on Wednesday at the Trump National Golf Course in Bedminster, New Jersey. The rising junior used an eagle on hole 15 and a birdie on hole 16 to pull ahead of Mike Muehr down the stretch to capture the individual title by three strokes with a four-under-par 67 in the final round. Gotterup closed out the championship with an eight-under-par 205 (67-71-67), which included four-under-par performances in rounds one and three. Gotterup produced 16 birdies and an eagle during three rounds of play, which included eight in the first 18 holes on Monday. "It feels awesome," Gotterup said. "A lot of professionals I know and have played with have come through and won this tournament, so it's a pretty cool accomplishment. To be a New Jersey native and represent the state university at this event is a great feeling." Incoming freshman Brendan Hansen tied for 12th at the tournament, highlighted by an even-par 71 in the second round.
