VINCENT TESTAVERDE SIGNS WITH TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

TAMPA, Fla. — Former University at Albany quarterback Vincent Testaverde has signed with the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the team announced Monday, July 29.

Testaverde, who was the Great Danes’ starting quarterback for much of the 2018 season, becomes the 15th UAlbany football alum to sign an NFL contract.

“We’re very excited for Vincent and this opportunity for him,” said Greg Gattuso, UAlbany’s head coach. “It’s great to see another Great Dane in the pros. We wish him all the best in Tampa Bay.”

The son of former NFL quarterback Vinny Testaverde, who spent six seasons in Tampa Bay and still ranks as the franchise’s all-time leading passer, Vincent Jr. threw for 1,714 yards and 11 touchdowns over eight starts at UAlbany.

He will be joined in Bucs’ training camp by fellow quarterbacks Jameis Winston, Blaine Gabbert and Ryan Griffin, according to Buccaneers.com.

Testaverde had participated in Tampa Bay’s minicamp back on May 10-11.

The native of Odessa, Fla., played high school football at nearby Jesuit before beginning his college career at Miami (Fla.) and then Texas Tech
