Buffalo State's Ruggiero inks professional women's hockey deal with Buffalo Beauts


The Buffalo Beauts of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL) announced the signing of Buffalo State's Emma Ruggiero to a professional contract. Ruggiero concluded her four-year playing career with the Bengals this past season, finishing 10th in school history with 52 points, including 28 goals and 24 assists in 100 games. She was named second team All-Northeast Women's Hockey League during her senior season as the team captain tied for the team lead with 14 goals and 10 assists for 24 points in 25 games played. Ruggiero completed her bachelor's degree in health and wellness with a 3.62 cumulative GPA in May. The Buffalo Beauts will open their 2019-20 season at Connecticut on Oct. 5 and will play their first home game at their new home the Northtown Center on Oct. 19.
