Women's Soccer Ranked Eighth to Open Season

KANSAS CITY – The United Soccer Coaches released the initial coaches poll for the 2019 Wednesday and The College of New Jersey women's soccer team will enter the season ranked eighth. Defending national champions Williams College tops the poll to begin the year. "I think it's invaluable to have the numbers that we have returning," said head coach Joe Russo. "We're excited about it and we can't wait to see what this group can do. This ranking is a real tribute to everyone who has been here. The culture that they established on day one has been passed down through every new player that enters the program." TCNJ's 2019 schedule will feature a pair of ranked opponents when the squad plays back-to-back games against 16th-ranked Johns Hopkins University and 24th-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology. The Lions return all but one player from the team that produced a 15-1-2 record and advanced to the regional semifinals in 2018 before falling to the Ephs in a shootout.
