Tim Coleman Signs in Finland's Top League


NEWARK, NJ -- Former NJIT basketball standout Tim Coleman '17 recently signed with the Vilpas Vikings, one of 11 teams that play in the Korislilga, the top professional league in Finland. The signing follows his 2018-19 season with BBC Etzella Ettelbruck (Luxembourg), where he averaged 28.3 ppg and 10.8 rpg (fifth in the league) in 21 games played. Coleman scored at least 16 points in every game with Etzella and topped the 30-point plateau nine times. Coleman, who guided BBC Etzella Ettelbruck in capturing the 2018-19 league title, was voted Eurobasket.com All-Luxembourg League Player of the Year, Import Player of the Year and Finals MVP. He completed his collegiate career with 1,439 points (fourth all-time at NJIT) and 762 rebounds (second all-time at NJIT), while helping lead the Highlanders to a pair of 20-win seasons in 2014-15 and 2015-16. A native of Union, NJ, Coleman is a graduate of St. Anthony High School in Jersey City, where he was coached by Bob Hurley, a 2010 inductee into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. He played on Friar teams that won the NJSIAA State Tournament of Champions following his sophomore and junior years and he entered his final high school game (a defeat in the Non-Public 'B' final) having been on the winning side in 93 of the prior 94 games.
