FIELD HOCKEY CRUISES PAST HOFSTRA, 6-0

HEMPSTEAD, NY – Four different players scored as the Monmouth field hockey team rattled off 32 shots, 18 on cage, in a 6-0 victory at Hofstra, Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Annick van Lange and freshman Yasmin Pratt both scored twice, while the defense yielded only one shot on cage in the victory. After a scoreless first quarter, the Hawks struck in the 24th minute as Pratt deflected in a corner strike from Ireen Frenken for her first of the afternoon. van Lange rocketed a reverse off the keeper into the netting to make it 2-0 Hawks, 51 seconds before the break. Pratt drove to the end line and set up van Lange in front of the cage eight minutes into the second half to put the Blue and White ahead 3-0. Josephine van der Hoop connected on a corner in the 42nd minute, before Stefanie Bigler capped off an odd-man fast break 47 seconds later. Following nearly an hour lightning delay, Pratt deflected another Frenken shot off a corner with just under three minutes left in regulation.
