Three Second Half Goals Propel Cougars to Third Straight Victory


PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (9/4/19) – Three second half goals propelled the Kean University men's soccer team to their third straight victory with a 4-1 decision over St. Joseph's College of Long Island on Tuesday evening. Felipe Lucas netted two goals for the Cougars who improve to 3-0 overall. Rayneri Ruiz notched a goal for the Golden Eagles who fall to 0-2 overall. Kean struck first with Lucas scoring off a Matthew Almeida header for the 1-0 advantage in the 19th minute. St. Joseph's evened the game at 1-1 in the 21st minute after the Golden Eagles converted on a penalty kick. The Cougars eventually broke the 1-1 tie in the 55th minute, when Lucas scored the game-winner with a curling shot just outside the box. Kean would increase their lead to 3-1 in the 64th minute as Brandon Grine and Kenny Santos connected for their first points of their collegiate careers. Marco Idrovo also tallied his first career points with a Bryan Blandon assisted goal in the 89th minute. Lucas totaled a game-high six shots, while Max Acosta tallied four. Dillon Konzelmann improved to 3-0 in net with one save. After tonight's victory, Head Coach Peter-John Falloon now sits at 96 wins for his career. Coach Falloon and the Cougars will return to action in St. Mary's City, Md. on Saturday, Sept. 7th, against the Sea Gulls of Salisbury University at 4:00 p.m.
