Women's Soccer Falls to Plattsburgh, 4-2 Trinity (Conn.)

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College women's soccer team was defeated by Plattsburgh State University, 4-2, on Wednesday evening at College Park Field. HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Dutchwomen started the game off with a goal in the 14th minute, marking sophomore Bella Dworkin's first of the season. Dworkin received the ball from classmate Fiona Zimmerman in the middle of the box and scored to make the score 1-0. However, Plattsburgh scored less than 10 minutes later to tie the game headed into halftime.

  • Plattsburgh scored three goals in the second half, including two from Sarah Bonner, to seal the game for the Cardinals.

  • Sophomore Emma Schleimer scored her first goal of the season for the Dutchwomen from 35 yards out in the 83rd minute, but it wasn't enough to take the lead from Plattsburgh.

  • The teams finished with 13 shots each. Junior Alison Sorkenn made four saves for Union.

WHAT'S NEXT: The Dutchwomen are now 1-2 on the season. Union returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 7, as they face Trinity College (Conn.) at 1:00 p.m. at College Park Field.
