Women's Soccer Bounces Roos, Improves Start To 4-0

Utica, NY - The Utica College women's soccer team grabbed its fourth-straight win of the season on Friday. The Pioneers turned in a dominant performance by shutting out SUNY Canton by a score of 4-0. This marks the first time that the Pioneers have won four straight games to start the season since 2012. This is the fourth time in program history that the program has achieved this mark. Three different Pioneers found the back of the net this evening. Junior Kierra Caissey (Gardner, MA/Gardner), senior Mikayla Blumenstock (Poland, NY/Poland) and freshman Jenna Keeman (Douglas, MA/Douglas ) each had one goal apiece. The Pioneers set the tone early on in this match offensively, as Caissey recorded the first goal of the game and her fourth of the season on a centering pass from Blumenstock to give her team an early 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute. The final Utica College goal came in the 80th minute, where Jenna Keeman (Douglas, MA/Douglas ) recorded her first goal as a Pioneer on a rebound created on a free kick from Lauren MacDonald (Poughquag, NY/Arlington). Overall, The Pioneers outshot the Kangaroos 21-3 en route to their fourth consecutive win to start the 2019 campaign. This year's team is currently chasing history. The only other team in the history of the program to start the season with more than four-straight wins was the 1998 team that started the season with a 6-0 record.
