Tennis Takes First Season Victory in Sweeping Fashion over Saint Michael's

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven women's tennis team (1-1, 1-1 NE10) picked up its first victory in 2019 in sweeping fashion with a 7-0 decision over the visiting Saint Micheal's Purple Knights on Sunday afternoon at the New Haven Tennis Courts. Leading the Blue and Gold on the afternoon was the trio of Stephanie Gonzalez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Academia Maria Reina), sophomore Nicole Mika (Staten Island, N.Y./Laurel Springs) and freshman Kacie Banks (Marietta, Ga./Marietta) who all swept their singles decision with 6-0, 6-0 straight sets while all three were also victorious in doubles play. Among the trio, Gonzalez and Mika partnered up for the second of three victories in doubles play when they defeated Ava Albis and Abby Edelmann by a 6-2 final.
