Sailing competes at four regattas

The Hobart and William Smith Colleges sailing team competed in four regattas this past weekend. The Colleges finished first at the Cayuga Lake Invite in Ithaca, N.Y., and second at the Jesuit Invite in New York City. HWS was also in Annapolis, Md., for the MAISA Laser Eliminator and the Faye Bennet MAISA Women's Singlehanded Championship. The Colleges entered three boats in the Cayuga Lake invite. HWS finished first, seventh and 16th in the 18 team field. Seniors Hector Guzman and Maya Weber won the regatta, finishing the 10 race regatta with 49 points. They were in the top 10 in all but one race and finished first twice. Sophomores Jake Vickers and Sarah Smith were seventh with 82 points. They finished the weekend with five top 10 finishes. Fellow sophomores Chase Carraway and Kate Klempen tied for 16th with one of the SUNY Maritime entries and were awarded 16th place thanks to the head-to-head tiebreaker.
