Women's Tennis Opens Fall Slate With A 6-1 Victory At Monmouth On Monday Afternoon
West Long Branch, NJ – The Wagner College women's tennis team kicked off its fall season this afternoon with a 6-1 road triumph over Monmouth. Today's triumph marked the first victory for first-year head coach Lynn Kiro. I was happy with the way the girls competed today," commented Kiro. "It is a solid start to the season. The scoreboard doesn't show how tough the matches were in fact as Monmouth put forth a strong effort but I can't express how proud I am of our girls, who remained focused and determined and were rewarded with the victory."
The Seahawks swept through doubles play to record the first point of the match. Senior
Vedika Anand and sophomore Samantha Lugtu bested Nicole Gasser and Sophia Fredriksson, 6-1, at No. 1.
