Schultz Finishes Third as Women's Golf Competes at Cortaca Northeast Invite


ITHACA, N.Y. - Emily Schultz finished third at the Cortaca Northeast Invite as the members of the St. John Fisher College women's golf team competed in the tournament over the weekend. The Cardinals played 36 holes over the weekend split evenly between The Country Club of Ithaca on

Saturday and at Cortland Country Club on Sunday.

n the first round, Schultz shot an 82 (+10) over 18 holes. Junior Emma Pyrak and freshman Gabrielle Papale tied each other as the pair both shot a 98 (+26).

On Sunday, Schultz shot only one stroke greater than her previous outing and totaled a 165 (+21). She trailed just two other competitors, as she finished just 9 strokes behind her closest competitor.

The junior tallied a single birdie on the day and shot for par 17 times.

Pyrak shaved six strokes off her day one total as she finished with a score of 190 (+46), a score that won her one half of 24th place. She birdied one hole and notched 10 pars.

Papale shot a 102 on the day and finished tied for 31st place after she shot a 200 (+56) and shot for par five times.

The Cardinals hit the course again next weekend on October 5 and 6 when they participate in the Northeast Women's Golf Conference Championship.
