Capozzoli Notches 70th Career Win as Women's Tennis Blanks St. Joseph's-Brooklyn


MADISON, N.J. (October 4, 2019) – Senior Mia Capozzoli of the FDU women's tennis team won her 70th career match as the Devils topped St. Joseph's-Brooklyn 9-0 Friday afternoon.

FDU moves to 4-0 on the year, as the Bears fall to 2-6 on the year.

The Devils picked up default victories at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles and needed just three victories to wrap up a win. FDU was especially dominant at doubles en route to not dropping a game.

Junior Nicole DelRosso and senior Christine Kenny won 8-0 at the top of the lineup while senior Logan Squires and junior Brooke Dorsey notched a victory by the same margin.

Senior Mia Capozzoli and sophomore Erin Weller were a part of the No. 3 doubles flight that won by default. The singles lineup dropped just four games over the five flights, highlighted by 6-0, 6-0 shutouts by Capozzoli and Weller. DelRosso notched a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at the top of the lineup, with Kenny earning a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

Squires closed out the day by dropping just one game at the No. 4 singles flight, as Dorsey recorded the default victory at the bottom of the lineup to complete the win.

The Devils will be back in action on Monday, heading to Brooklyn to take on Brooklyn College at 3 p.m.
