Football Falls to Army Prep


Garden City, NY) The Nassau Football team played against Army Prep on Friday night under the lights. The Lions got out to a slow start only scoring 2 field goals to total 6 points in the first half. Army scored 12 and 18 in the 1st and 2nd quarter respectively before going into halftime, making the score 30-6. Nassau came back from the break revived and ready to play. Both teams went scoreless in the 3rd quarter, keeping the score at 30-6. In the 4th quarter, the Lions pushed scoring a total of 14 points with touchdowns from Maurice Teachey and Chris Collier. But Army was able to sneak in another touchdown to seal their victory, 38-20. Running back Chris Collier led the way for Nassau with 89 yards rushing and a 41 yard touchdown reception. Quarterback Steve Sanchez threw for 221 yards and recorded 2 touchdowns. "Looking back, we had quite a few opportunities to bridge the gap in the score in the second half, but we were unable to capitalize on those moments. We will be back at the drawing board for a few plays to help us for Saturday." commented Head Coach Jamel Ramsay after the game. Next week, the Lions will size up against College of Dupage on the road in Toledo, Ohio.
