Equestrian Wins Reserve High Point Team at Home Show

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell equestrian team had an outstanding showing at its first home show of the 2019-20 season on Sunday at the Oxley Equestrian Center in Ithaca, N.Y., winning the title of Reserve High Point Team.
Lucia Younger played a key role in the Big Red winning the Reserve High Point Team, as she was named the High Point Rider for the show. Younger's performance was on point on Sunday, as she notched a pair of first place finishes in limit flat and limit fences.
The Big Red excelled in limit fences across the board, as Stephanie Introne and Hunter Wilkinson both won their respective limit flat classes. Liza Pacchiana and Kate Wagner also performed well, placing third and fourth, respectively.
Cornell picked up several wins in the limit fences as well, with senior captains Katherine Caracappa and Wagner both placing first in their respective classes in addition to Younger. Introne doubled-up and competed in limit fences, placing third.
The Big Red went one-two in the intermediate fences, as Anjali Velu finished first and Haley Harder placed second. Harder also showed in intermediate flat, along with Karacappa and Jada Davis, who both placed third in their respective classes.
Lena Reeb represented Cornell well in the open fences and open flat, placing third in open fences and fourth in open flat.
Lara Carr emerged victorious in novice equitation, placing first. Catherine Thrasher and Mariam Khan also had strong showings in novice equitation, finishing fourth and sixth, respectively.
Hannah Braun and Mariangel Rivera helped the Big Red end the day on a high note, as Braun placed second in introductory equitation and Rivera finished third in pre-novice equitation.
The Big Red equestrian team will be back in action this weekend when it competes in a pair of shows at RIT on Saturday, Oct. 26 and Sunday, Oct. 27 in Rochester N.Y.
