Monroe Football Bumps up to No. 17 in NJCAA Football Rankings for Week 10


CHARLOTTE, N.C., November 4, 2019 – After a bounce-back victory in the Monroe College football team's final home game of the season on Saturday, the Mustangs jumped up one spot to No. 17 in the NJCAA Football Rankings for Week 10, as announced by the NJCAA on Monday. The Mustangs rolled to a 68-6 victory over Erie Community College on Saturday at Joseph F. Fosina Field. The Mustangs scored nine total touchdowns in the game, including seven rushing scores. Quarterback Dominique Shoffner rushed for three of those touchdowns and threw for one more. Special teams also played a big role in the game, as the Mustangs blocked Erie's only extra-point attempt and returned it for a defensive PAT, and on the very next play, Jevin Frett returned the kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. Charles Amankwaa led the way on defense with a pair of interceptions.
