Riverdale, NY - Manhattan College is pleased to announce a contract extension for head men's basketball coach Steve Masiello through the 2022-23 season. Since taking the reins of the Jaspers' program in 2011, Masiello has compiled 138 wins, just four behind legendary head coach Jack Powers for third place among all coaches in program history. "I appreciate having the ability to continue to lead the men's basketball program here at Manhattan College," said Masiello. "I'm excited about the future of this program, and am grateful for the commitment of our administration in supporting our program." Masiello led the Jaspers to back-to-back MAAC championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2014 and 2015. This season, he has guided the Jaspers to an 11-10 record and 7-5 mark in conference play this season. "Steve has been a great mentor to our student-athletes throughout his time at Manhattan College," said Marianne Reilly '82, director of intercollegiate athletics. "We have a young team that is improving every day. We're looking forward to having Steve continue to lead this group and build on their success." A two-time Metropolitan Coach of the Year, Masiello has overseen the development of 12 All-MAAC performers at Manhattan College. In addition, he has coached seven MAAC Major Award winners, 12 MAAC All-Academic performers, seven 1,000-point scorers and four MAAC All-Rookie honorees. As an assistant coach at Manhattan College from 2001-2005, Masiello was a key recruiter and vital part of the staff that brought the Jaspers to the NCAA Tournament in 2003 and 2004 after winning back-to-back MAAC championships.
