2021 CUNYAC/Healthfirst Men’s Soccer Championship Field Set

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Now that the regular season has come to an end, the tournament field for the 2021 CUNYAC/Healthfirst Men’s Soccer Championship is now set. Six teams with championship aspirations will vie for the title on Saturday, Nov. 6 at Brooklyn College. Lehman is the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament and receive a first round bye after going 9-3-1 overall during the regular season with a 6-1 record against league opposition. The Lightning enter the tournament as the CUNYAC Regular Season Champions for a second straight season. Baruch is the No. 2 seed and also receives a bye in the opening round after going 6-6 overall and 5-2 against conference opponents during the regular season. The quarterfinals of the CUNYAC/Healthfirst Men’s Soccer Championship get underway on Wednesday, Oct. 27 when No. 3 CCNY (5-8, 5-2 CUNYAC) hosts No. 6 John Jay (3-8, 2-5), the reigning conference champions, at Randall’s Island. The Beavers defeated the Bloodhounds in the regular season by a 2-1 score. The second quarterfinal contest features No. 4 Hunter (4-9, 4-3 CUNYAC) and No. 5 Brooklyn (4-10, 4-3) at Randall’s Island. When the two teams faced off during the regular season, it was the Hawks that walked away victorious with a 2-0 decision. The semifinals will be held on Saturday, Oct. 30. The first contest will feature the top-seeded Lightning against the winner of Hunter/Brooklyn at 12 p.m. at Randall’s Island. Lehman’s lone conference loss came to Brooklyn, while turning in a 3-0 victory over Hunter. The second semifinal match will feature No. 2 Baruch and the winner of CCNY/John Jay. The Bearcats defeated the Bloodhounds, 3-0, in the regular while outlasting the Beavers, 6-4. Those winners will advance to Saturday’s (Nov. 6) Championship Game at 4:30 p.m. at Brooklyn College.
