Edwards’ Hurdles Win Highlights Monroe Mustangs Track and Field’s Day at FastTrack National Invitati


STATEN ISLAND, N.Y., February 11, 2022 – Edward Williams Jr. took first place in the 60-meter hurdles to highlight a strong day for the Monroe College Mustangs track and field team at the FastTrack National Invitational on Friday at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

Williams ran a first-place time of 7.95 seconds in the 60mH on Friday, a career-best time that also improve his ranking for the 2022 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in the event. Williams later ran in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 22.25 seconds.

Tyhir Jones placed fifth overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.91 seconds. The time was a personal best for Jones, who is just 0.16 seconds from qualifying for the NJCAA Championships in the event. Jones also ran the 200m later with a time of 22.43 seconds.

Tendai Nyoni ran a season-best time in the 400m after finishing in 49.85 seconds.

DeShawn Williams competed in the 800-meter run for the Mustangs, finishing the race in 2:17.80 to set a new personal-best time.

Kristin Stickdorn was the only member of the women's team to compete on Friday. She competed in the shotput, throwing a distance of 11.60 meters in the event.
